MY PHILOSOPHY

My personal goal for my future classroom is to allow students to reach their full potential. Allowing students to demonstrate their strengths and build on their weaknesses helps them gain more confidence. Children are our future and establishing an environment where students are able to take risks and fulfill their goals as useful tools for their future. This can be done by creating a safe environment where students can learn, be themselves, and have a sense of community.
A teachers role in the classroom is to guide their students and to help them learn how to access information. By doing this, it is placing the students in control of their own education. It's the students job to take their problems and find their answers. It's the teachers job to provide a classroom full of sensory, guided activities that are done in a proper time and matter relevant to the subject matter.
While connecting to them personally, it is also important to connect their learning. Cognitivism or developmentalism is a true priority. Allowing students to learn life-long self-directed learning, and authentic participation in a community is my goal as a teacher. As Maria Montessori states, “The greatest sign of success for a teacher... is to be able to say, ’The children are now working as if I did not exist.’” Being a guide to their learning, to their success, is a true goal of mine.
These students are not only in the classroom to learn but, teach me. Learning is a life time journey, my education does not end. While continuing my own education and attending seminars, learning what is deemed best practice in the classroom is my own personal priority. This will not only teach me how to do my job better but, allow me to impact and educate the students better.
